In a stirring display of commitment to Ukraine’s resilient tech sector, u.ventures, a leading venture capital fund based in Kyiv, Ukraine, has invested $4 million in eight Ukrainian and one Moldovan startup since the full-scale Russian invasion began on February 24, 2022.
The funded startups showcase an impressive array of innovation spanning various sectors: Instock’s robotics warehouse automation, Haiqu’s quantum computing software, Cloudprinter’s global print-on-demand network, NewHomesMate’s new construction homes marketplace, Speedsize’s AI media content optimization, and Bloomcoding’s online coding school for children. Three other companies have also received funding, though they remain undisclosed at this time.
These startups are a testament to the resilience, adaptability, and determination of Ukraine’s tech entrepreneurs. Despite the enormous challenges presented by the ongoing conflict, these companies continue to build globally-oriented products and services that push the boundaries of innovation.
“The Ukrainian tech community has shown remarkable resilience and adaptability in the face of adversity,” said Jaroslawa Johnson, President and CEO of Western NIS Enterprise Fund (WNISEF). “While 2022 was devastating on many fronts, Ukraine’s IT exports were one of the only industries to show growth. This is a testament to the sector’s robust innovation and focus on the future.”
Looking ahead, Johnson believes that Ukrainian startups are well-positioned to lead and take advantage of the opportunities that emerging technologies like AI, AR, and quantum computing will unlock in the coming decade.
